EPRI Knoxville: Grid Resilience and AI
Microgrid Planning and Operation Research Group Lead
A technical exchange with EPRI alongside Taipower and Taiwanese researchers on grid resilience, data-driven power systems, and AI.

As lead of the Microgrid Planning and Operation research group in Taipower’s grid-resilience and innovation partnership program, I joined Taipower and Taiwanese academic colleagues for a two-day exchange at EPRI Knoxville. Topics included AI data centers and electricity-demand growth, data-driven power delivery, grid resilience, and AI applications in power systems.
The exchange placed Taiwan’s microgrid planning, operation, and distribution-resilience research in the context of challenges shared by power systems internationally. For the campus demonstration site, it also offered perspectives on organizing operational data, defining research questions, and planning validation methods that connect local engineering experience with wider grid research.
Key topics
- AI data centers and changing electricity demand.
- Data-driven power-systems analysis and grid resilience.
- Research exchange on microgrid planning, operation, and AI applications.
