Ming Chi University of Technology inaugurated its campus microgrid demonstration site on 22 April 2025. Organised by the Department of Electrical Engineering with guidance from New Taipei City’s Economic Development Department, the event introduced an integrated setting for photovoltaics, battery storage, EV charging and energy management, supporting research, teaching and industry exchange.
Four functions integrated on campus
The bridge installation combines 30 kWp of PV, a 100 kW / 200 kWh battery system, one 180 kW DC charging station and five 7 kW AC chargers. The EMS brings together energy information for observation and applied research. The 180 kW figure is the total rated power of the DC station.
Connecting project development with research and teaching
Ching-Chuan Luo served as project lead. System presentations, equipment demonstrations and technical discussions connected the campus installation with practical student learning and industry applications. This work provides a foundation for subsequent energy-management studies, forecasting comparisons and case-based teaching.
