Connecting the project with a working site

The visit formed part of an NSTC net-zero project on interdisciplinary integration of key virtual power plant technologies and collaborative industry innovation. As co-principal investigator and subproject principal investigator, I joined our team in hosting the project leaders, introducing the site we have developed and discussing its architecture, operation and opportunities for collaboration across subprojects.

Discussing integration through a site tour

The exchange covered virtual power plants, vehicle-to-grid (V2G), energy management systems (EMS), storage and renewable-energy integration. Participants discussed how research across subprojects could connect with field applications.

A shared setting for future collaboration

The visit provided a common physical reference for discussing cooperation and collaborative research. It records the site’s role in supporting exchange across project teams, alongside its equipment demonstrations and educational uses.

Research topics discussed

  • Virtual power plants and distributed-energy integration.
  • V2G, EMS, storage and renewable-energy coordination.
  • Cooperation across subprojects and future research directions.

The visit took place on 14 August; we published the LinkedIn activity record on 16 August. V2G was a discussion topic, not a claim of completed deployment at this site.
